Purpose of Accreditation
ACS WASC Accreditation Process
ACS WASC accreditation is a process schools use to monitor student learning and set school improvement goals. Schools assess their program and the impact on student learning with respect to the ACS WASC criteria and other accreditation factors. Every six years, accredited schools conduct a self-study and host a self-study visit. The self-study process culminates in the refinement of a schoolwide action plan. Throughout the accreditation cycle, schools are expected to address the schoolwide action plan and demonstrate evidence of acceptable student achievement and school improvement. Appropriate reports and reviews throughout the six-year cycle of accreditation support this process.
Our WASC Journey
FHS successfully completed our Self-Study Visit in March 2025. Six educators from other districts served as members of our Visiting Committee and conducted a comprehensive review of our school. During their visit, they observed classrooms and met with staff, students, families, and other stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of FHS, our programs, and our school community.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Visiting Committee shared both commendations and recommendations for our school. They also affirmed the areas for improvement that we had identified through our self-study process. We are proud of the progress we have made and grateful for the feedback and guidance provided by the Visiting Committee. Their full report can be found below under the “Visiting Committee Report” tab.
Looking Ahead
Since our Self-Study Visit in March 2025, we have continued to make steady progress toward our schoolwide goals and areas for growth. We are now preparing our Progress Report for our upcoming Mid-Cycle Visit in March 2028.
During the Mid-Cycle Visit, members of the Visiting Committee will return to FHS to visit classrooms and meet with students, staff, families, and other stakeholders. Their goal will be to learn about the progress we have made, celebrate our successes, and determine how effectively we are continuing to address our identified goals and areas for growth.
Following the Mid-Cycle Visit, we will continue to monitor our progress, reflect on our goals, and make adjustments as needed. This ongoing cycle of reflection, improvement, and growth will help us prepare for our next Self-Study Visit in 2031.
