Mission Statement

The mission of WorkAbility 1 is to promote the involvement of students, families, educators, employers, and other agencies in planning and implementing an array of services that will culminate in successful student transition to employment, lifelong learning, and quality of life.

What is WorkAbility 1?

WorkAbility 1 (WA1) is a pre-employment / work readiness and transition program for students, ages 14-22, in special education. Grant funded and administered by the California Department of Education-Special Education Division, WA1 provides students with the opportunity to obtain career awareness, soft skills, work experience, and transition guidance while completing their secondary education or adult transition classes.

There are numerous WA1 projects throughout California. Each project operates within the grant requirements, as well as the unique needs of each district and their available community resources. Therefore, not all WorkAbility1 projects operate the same.

Fallbrook Union High School District’s WorkAbility 1 project is one of the more established projects in the state. FUHSD WA1 aims to increase our students’ post-secondary success in college, vocational training, and / or employment, and assist them with becoming positive contributors in the community.
