FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - For the third year in-a-row, the Moccasin, yearbook of Fallbrook High, has won First Place Honors at the San Diego County Fair.
"This is a testament to the hard work and diligence of some very special staff members" said Dave Evans, Yearbook Advisor the past three years. "Special recognition goes to our Editor-in-Chief, Paul Mattson, and our Senior Ads Editors, Celene Conley and Amber McCracken. Behind the leadership of these students and the team effort of the entire staff, the Moccasin once again reached new heights."
The judges awarded the Moccasin perfect scores for physical appearance (50/50), coverage (75/75), special pages (25/25), typography (25/25), creativity (50/50), academics (50/50) and athletics (50/50). The seven perfect scores in the 15 categories are the most in the past three years that the Moccasin has entered the competition.
"Our high expectations for the Moccasin every year are tempered by the reality that, as a 100% student-produced book and year-to-year change over in staff, mistakes are bound to occur," Evans said. "Nonetheless, we always strive to produce a memorable yearbook of which students, their parents and guardians, and the school and community can be proud."
For their efforts, Evans awarded Mattson, Conley and McCracken $1000, $750, and $750 scholarships respectfully. All staff members were awarded Certificates of Recognition.
