Kathy Waite, FHS Field Hockey Coach, Nominated for US Coach of the Year
Longtime Fallbrook High field hockey coach Kathy Waite has been nominated for U.S. Coach of the Year by topofthecircle.com, a leading Web site that covers the sport.
Waite is one of 12 nominees from around the country and the only one from California. According to the Web site, the award is given to the coach "who made a marked difference in the performance of a scholastic field hockey team in a particular season. The coaching performance is not limited to progress made in the year which the award was given." Waite led the Warriors to their first appearance in the title game of the prestigious Serra Tournament. The Warriors also reached the championship match of the CIF San Diego Section Division I playoffs, losing to San Pasqual. Fallbrook last won a CIF title in 1991 and last played in the championship game in 2005. |
